Review: Dfront SA - Forte Teor da Dor

Dfront SA
is a Brazilian band originally from the State of Rio de Janeiro and in 2023 they released their second album called "Forte Teor da Dor", showing an explosive mix of Death Metal with Hardcore, barelly touching the Deathcore zone. In the midst of a scene made up of more traditional bands, Dfront SA stands out for its versatility in exploring aggressive sounds, creating a unique identity mixing the traditional aggressiveness of Brazilian Hardcore with Death Metal.
Unlike their first album "Ceifado" released in 2021, the band forgot a little bit of the classic sound and explored closer to the edges of Deathcore, at times almost sounding like the well-known Brazilian Deathcore band John Wayne, ranging from the guttural and scream vocals, with lyrics completely in Portuguese.

In the opening track "Cura", the band starts with a few chords that escalate until establishing the harsh brutality of the rest of the album, initially in Death Metal that gains a Deathcore face over the course of the album, ending in a sick Breakdown.
Then we have the songs "Agonia" and "Severo" which, unlike the escalation we see in the opening track, have already established themselves in a frenetic level traditionally from Thrash Metal, while in the following track "Lágrimas" we have that rhythmic punch of Hardcore always with the special highlights for the scream vocal moments.

In the track "Um Segundo" the band already bets on a Death Metal that escalates to a second half entirely built on top of an insane Breakdown bordering Slamming Death Metal. Then we have the songs "Punição" and "Rastro de Culpa" where the band tries to return to something more straight as the band had already done in their previous album. In the track "Discórdia" we have the visible technical evolution of the band, where the guitars make more "progressive" crazy riffs with the drums always "breaking" in the middle of the tempo.

Finally, we have the tracks "Fim do Mundo" and "Pandora", with "Fim do Mundo" seeming something more Djent-style at the beginning like Meshuggah, and "Pandora" the most contained and slowest track on the album, something more paced with some slow chords running through the song.

In conclusion, the band has an insane potential to continue exploring this Deathcore/Death Metal/Hardcore zone, this album is a proof of visible technical evolution and I can certainly say that in Brazil there are not many bands with this quality presented by Dfront SA, and as a band coming from Hardcore, Punch is always guaranteed with good doses of Groove and Speed without making the sound linearly boring.
My favorite tracks are "Cura"  (my favorite of the entire album), "Severo", "Um Segundo", "Rastro de Culpa" and "Fim do Mundo".

RATING: 9,0!!!!!
